Terms of Use
These terms are a contract between you and the operator of the Cerise app: what you get, what we promise, and what happens with the money.
This is the English version of our Terms of Use. The Russian original says the same thing. If the two versions differ, the one you accepted applies. Nothing in either version takes away the rights that the mandatory law of your country gives you.
1. Definitions
“The app” is the Cerise mobile app. “We” and “the operator” are the sole proprietor named in the next section. “You” is the person who uses the app. “Your partner” is the person you are linked with in the app by invitation; the two of you are “a couple.” “Cerise Plus” is the paid part of the app. These words are used in this sense throughout the text.
2. Who you are contracting with
The Cerise app is published by Sergei Olegovich Afinogenov, sole proprietor (individual entrepreneur) registered in the Republic of Armenia, registration (tax) number 2408000572, address: Yerevan, Grigor and Sargis Gurzadyan str., 2, 0005. Contact: hello@cerise-app.com.
3. How you accept the terms
The “I’m 18 or older” button on the first screen, or “Accept invite” on the invitation screen, confirms your age and accepts these terms. We record the time and the edition — the date at the top of the page. Consent to the processing of your answers is given in the same place, with a separate checkbox (text of the consent).
4. Who can use the app
Adults: 18 or older, or the age of majority in your country if it is higher. The app is meant for adult couples and contains adult topics.
5. License
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Cerise on your own devices — for yourself and your couple, not for resale. The app is licensed, not sold.
6. What is included for free
- Compass: currently the first 60 answers, then five new cards a day. These numbers are a setting on our server. Your value is remembered when you first receive a deck; if we change the setting later, the larger of the two applies to you — your free allowance will not shrink.
- Truth or Dare: ten turns free in total — truths and dares together, at any level. The count is kept on the phone you play on. After that, the game opens with a subscription.
- Always free: matches, sending and receiving suggestions to your partner, the couple’s history, the Weekly Spark, and rewards. “Always free” means: no charge for as long as the app is running.
- Boundaries: heat levels and excluded topics are also always free.
7. Cerise Plus
The paid part of the app is called Cerise Plus. It includes Compass without the daily allowance, Truth or Dare without the turn limit, and Dice — in those versions of the app that have this game.
- Year — $39.99, an auto-renewing subscription. The first seven days are free if a free trial is available to you (see below).
- Month — $9.99, an auto-renewing subscription, with no free trial.
- “Lifetime” — $99.99, a one-time purchase with no renewal and no free trial. “Lifetime” means: for as long as Cerise Plus exists. It is not a guarantee for the rest of your life (more below).
What “Lifetime” means. Access to Cerise Plus ends only if we shut down the app as a whole or cease our business; we do not take it away for other reasons, except for a serious breach of these terms (section 16). “Lifetime” includes Cerise Plus in the scope described in this section; we may sell separate new products separately. If we shut down the app, we will warn you in the app at least 90 days ahead and, until the shutdown, leave you the ability to download your data. Refunds for the purchase are handled by the store (section 11); the consumer rights that the law gives you are not limited by these terms.
Prices are in US dollars. In your country the App Store or Google Play may show a different amount in local currency, and the price in the store may include taxes of your country. The price shown on the purchase screen at the moment of payment applies. The price of a subscription may change: the store will notify you and, if its rules or the law require it, ask for your consent to the new price. If you don’t agree, you can cancel the subscription.
8. Free trial
- Only on the yearly plan, seven days. The purchase screen states the price after the free trial and the date of the first charge. To avoid being charged, cancel the subscription no later than 24 hours before the free trial ends. If you don’t cancel, when it ends the App Store or Google Play will charge for the year, and the subscription will then renew automatically.
- One per person and per couple. If you or your partner have already had the free week — in this couple or before — the yearly plan is sold with payment right away, and the purchase screen says so. Cancellation, a refund, and a breakup do not bring the right to a free trial back. The App Store and Google Play have their own limits on free trials too: usually once per store account.
- Reminder. If notifications are allowed for Cerise, we send a reminder about three days before the charge, with the date and where to cancel. It is not sent to people who have already cancelled the subscription. If notifications are off, we will not send a reminder.
9. The subscription and your partner
- One for two. One of you pays — either one. Your partner gets access to Cerise Plus automatically: right after the purchase if you are already a couple, or at the moment of linking if you bought earlier. Your partner is not shown the price or a request to pay. The purchase stays on the account of the person who paid, and your partner’s access depends on your couple and on your account.
- If both of you pay, both are charged: each purchase is separate, in its own store, and each is cancelled separately. The app warns about this on the purchase screen, when you link, and in the subscription settings.
- On a breakup access stays with the person who paid, and your partner’s access ends immediately. The same goes for “Lifetime.”
- If the buyer deletes their account, the partner keeps access until the end of the period that has already been paid for, and then goes back to the free plan. With “Lifetime” there is no paid period, and the partner’s access ends immediately.
- If the purchase is restored on a different Cerise account — for example, after reinstalling on Android without restoring the profile, or after deleting the account — Cerise Plus moves to the new account. The earlier account loses it, the partner’s access ends immediately and comes back only by linking again.
- If the money is returned — through store support, or we cancelled the purchase with a refund — access to Cerise Plus ends immediately, for you and for your partner. If Apple reverses the refund, access comes back.
- If a renewal fails, access closes about a day after the end of the period, or after the store’s grace period.
10. Renewal and cancellation
- Renewal is automatic. The subscription renews for the same period at the current price until you cancel it. You must cancel no later than 24 hours before the end of the free trial or of the paid period — otherwise the next one will be charged. The money is charged by the App Store or Google Play from your account there.
- Where to cancel. iPhone: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Android: Google Play → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. From the app, you get there through Settings → the “SUBSCRIPTION” group → the “Plan” row → “Cancel subscription”; the row leads there only if you paid for Cerise Plus. The paid period is not lost: access works until its end — for you and for your partner.
- Deleting your account does not cancel the subscription. The payment lives in the App Store or Google Play, not with us: cancel the subscription there, or the charges will continue.
- Restore purchases on a new phone or after a reinstall with the button on the purchase screen or in settings. The purchase is tied to your App Store or Google Play account.
11. Refunds and the right to withdraw
Refunds are handled by the App Store or Google Play under their own rules: the payment goes through them, and they make the decision. While Cerise Plus is active for you and was paid for by you, you can ask from the app: Settings → the “SUBSCRIPTION” group → the “Plan” row → “Request a refund.” After the subscription ends, the request is filed directly: on iPhone, at reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android, in your Google Play order history. If you live in the EU or the United Kingdom and have the right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days, the store handles it and returns the money. These terms do not limit that right.
12. What we promise
- Your partner does not see your “Never” answers, your answers without a match, or the list of excluded topics. Your partner sees matches and which answer — “Yes” or “Maybe” — you gave in them. What your partner can guess is described honestly in the Privacy Policy, in the section “What your partner sees.”
- We do not show counters of refusals. The app does show the difference in heat levels: a level that is on for only one of you is marked “On for you only” for the other.
- We do not publish your answers.
- We do not give medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice. Cerise is not treatment and not a substitute for talking to a professional.
13. Safety
- What to do with a card is for the two of you to decide. Any card and any task can be skipped.
- Agree on a stop signal in advance and stop right away when it is given.
- Do not combine practices with alcohol or other substances. Some cards have safety tips — read them before you start.
- The app does not replace a doctor. If something goes wrong, see one.
- You are responsible for physical safety — your own and your partner’s — within the limits the law allows: liability that the law does not allow to be excluded is not excluded by this.
14. User obligations
You undertake:
- not to use the app to pressure your partner: everything in it is built on consent, and consent obtained by pressure is not valid;
- not to try to get access to other people’s data;
- not to resell access;
- not to write insults, threats, or unlawful content in suggestions and rewards: your partner sees this text.
15. Content and sources
The rights to the selection of cards and tasks, their order, markup, and original texts belong to us or our licensors. Cards based on the sources below are used under the terms of their licenses. You may use them freely in the app; you may not copy and sell our selection — its choice, order, and markup. This does not limit the rights in the original sources: the source materials themselves remain under the terms of their licenses.
Some of the Compass cards are translated and adapted from open sources:
- the question bank spreadsheet.love (© 2026 Timur Iskhakov) — the questions under the license CC BY 4.0; the project’s code is distributed under Apache 2.0, and that license does not extend to the cards;
- the TEAQ questionnaire: P. D. Trotter, F. McGlone, R. L. E. P. Reniers, J. F. W. Deakin (2018). Construction and Validation of the Touch Experiences and Attitudes Questionnaire (TEAQ): A Self-report Measure to Determine Attitudes Toward and Experiences of Positive Touch. Journal of Nonverbal Behavior, 42(4), 379–416, pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6208655 — CC BY 4.0;
- Couplecards (© 2026 Qiaeru) — under the MIT license, as stated by the author.
The texts have been changed: translated, shortened, and in part split; the authors did not approve these changes and are not affiliated with Cerise. The full texts of the licenses are in the app: Settings → Help and legal → “Licenses and sources.”
16. Termination
You can delete your account at any time, from the app, without emails and without explanations: Settings → Account and data → “Delete account and data.” We may close access for a serious breach of the obligations in section 14 — for example, an attempt to get access to other people’s data.
17. App updates
We change the app: we add cards and features and remove what didn’t catch on. What is free and what is paid may change — except for what is named “always free” — but what you have already paid for is not taken away: a subscription — until the end of the paid period, “Lifetime” — for as long as Cerise Plus exists. We try to keep the app working at all times, but we cannot promise that it will never fail.
18. Liability
We provide the app as it is — within the limits the law allows. We are responsible for the safety of your data as described in the Privacy Policy, but we are not responsible for how you handle what you have opened. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away the consumer rights that the mandatory law of your country gives you.
19. Governing law and disputes
The law of the Republic of Armenia applies to these terms. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live. You can write to us with any question — we will try to resolve it by correspondence. If that doesn’t work, the dispute is heard by the courts of the Republic of Armenia (Yerevan); a consumer may also go to the court at their place of residence, if the mandatory law of their country allows it.
20. App Store and Google Play
If you installed Cerise from the App Store, Apple’s standard license agreement applies to the license for the app — Licensed Application End User License Agreement; these terms supplement it. The contract under these terms is between you and us, not with Apple; Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Purchases are also governed by the rules of the store through which you made them.
21. Change of operator
We may transfer the rights and obligations under these terms to a successor — for example, a legal entity that continues Cerise. We will tell you in the app at least 30 days ahead. You give your consent to the processing of your answers to the new operator again: the earlier consent does not transfer to it. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account and cancel your subscription.
22. Changes to the terms
If the terms change, we will update the date at the top of the page, and the app will show a “We’ve updated our documents” notice with a link to the new edition. We make material changes only for an understandable reason — new features, or requirements of the law or of the stores — and we do not use them to change what has already been paid for: the price and term of your current subscription and of “Lifetime.” If you don’t agree, you can cancel the subscription (the paid period runs to its end) or delete your account. If you keep using the app after the notice, the new edition applies to you. Starting with the 2026-10-05 edition, every edition is preserved unchanged at cerise-app.com/archive/terms-YYYY-MM-DD; for this English text, starting with the 2026-10-06 edition, at cerise-app.com/archive/en/terms-YYYY-MM-DD.
